Interview with the Promoter, Aubrey

We had the chance to speak with Aubrey, the promoter behind the “TSHWALA BAMI – DUBLIN DEBUT” event, to learn more about his journey and what attendees can expect.

Q1: Can you share a bit about yourself and your journey in the music promotion industry? How did you come to organize events in Dublin?

“My name is Aubrey, and I’ve been in the entertainment space for about four years now. Getting into the music promotion industry began with me actually being an artist within the industry. I started hosting events to create a space for myself and friends to showcase our talents, which led to me falling in love with the business side of the industry. This brought me into artist management and events curation.”

Q2: What inspired you to bring “TSHWALA BAMI” to Dublin?

“I have a personal relationship with Yuppe, and before he became this global success, I told him I’d book him one day, and here we are today. I also can’t take away from the fact that he and Tito M are phenomenal DJs, and I believe in them and everything they are set out to do, from the ‘Tshwala Bami’ hit single moving forward.”

Q3: Dublin has a rich music scene. How do you think the Dublin audience will receive the Amapiano genre?

“Dublin definitely has a diverse music scene, but I believe each has its own audience. I believe that the people that know about Amapiano are going to appreciate the show.”

Q4: What unique elements can attendees expect at the “TSHWALA BAMI – DUBLIN DEBUT” event?

“For this show, we made sure to curate it in such a way that the attendee will enjoy themselves from the moment the show starts to the end. This is why we brought in a varied lineup, because we wanted to cater for the different music tastes that our attendees have.”

Q5: The Button Factory is a renowned venue in Dublin. What made you choose it for this event?

“I personally believe that ‘it’s the best or nothing,’ which is why I chose Button Factory. It provides safety for our attendees, an aesthetically pleasing environment, and is located in the city center, which allows people coming in from anywhere to be able to get there.”

Q6: Can you tell us more about the special guest DJ from Germany? How did you manage to include such a diverse lineup?

“DJ McCartney is not new to the Dublin/Amapiano scene. He knows the audience, and I believe he is a great DJ. Including him in the lineup was a move I made to create variety at the show. He’ll bring something different, something our attendees aren’t always hearing. Coming up with a lineup this diverse was intentional because I wanted to convey a message that we at ‘COLLABOATE’ are about collaborating. Our lineup goes to show that we stick to our ethos, which champions diversity.”

Q7: How do you approach promoting an event featuring international artists like Tito M & Yuppe? Are there specific challenges or advantages?

“Oh, there are challenges, alright, especially since we’re new to the events scene in Ireland. We’ve had to do more than what anyone else is doing just to get the attention of the right people, and I still feel it isn’t enough. Collaboration with promoters in the space really helps get the word out there organically and using influencers to get in front of more eyes is how we’ve been doing it. We also are getting into paid advertising to reach a much wider audience.”
